Step-by-Step Instructions
1.
Sterilize your cutting tool by wiping the blade with rubbing alcohol to prevent the spread of plant diseases.
2.
Select a healthy, vigorous stem or leaf from the parent plant to ensure the new plant has the best chance of survival.
3.
Make a clean cut just below a leaf node or joint, as this is where new roots are most likely to emerge.
4.
Dip the cut end of the stem into rooting hormone if desired, shaking off any excess to avoid hindering root growth.
5.
Place the cutting into a container of clean water or a pot filled with moist, sterile potting mix.
6.
Cover the container with a clear plastic bag supported by wire or stakes to create a humid environment, ensuring the plastic does not touch the leaves.
7.
Place the container in a spot with bright, indirect light, avoiding direct sunlight which can overheat the cutting.
8.
Monitor the cutting for root development and transplant it into a separate pot once the roots are at least one inch long.
